2026 Junior Pre Season Skills

  • 29 March 2026: 9am-10:30am at National Hockey Stadium

  • 18 April 2026: 9am-10:30am at National Hockey Stadium - Meet Black Sticks & NUHC player Julia Gluyas

2026 Junior Hockey Games

  • Starts: Saturday 2 May 2026

  • Finishes: Saturday 12 September 2026


Approximate game Start times (subject to change)

  • Mini Sticks (Years 3 & 4): 10:00 AM, 10:15 AM, 10:30 AM

  • Kiwi Sticks (Years 5 & 6): 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM (Kapiti-based games at 9:45 AM)

  • Kwik Sticks (Years 7 & 8): Predominantly 11:00 AM, with the earliest start at 10:00 AM (Kapiti-based games at 10:45 AM)

  • King’s Birthday: Saturday 30 May 2026

  • July school holidays: 4 July and 11 July 2026

  • Open Grade Finals Weekend: Saturday 22 August 2026

2026 Junior Prizegiving — Saturday 26 September

Join us to celebrate the season with our junior players, coaches, and whānau. We’ll keep it fun, fast, and family-friendly — a chance to recognise effort and improvement, grab team photos, and wrap up the year together.

PRACTICES

All practices will be held on Wednesday evenings at Newlands College starting on 29 April 2026

  • 5pm - 6pm —Mini Sticks - NUHC Mā (Years 3&4)

  • 5pm - 6pm — Kiwi Sticks - NUHC Pango and NUHC Koura (Years 5&6)

  • 6pm - 7pm — Kwik Sticks- NUHC Parauri (Years 7&8)

  • 6pm - 7pm — Kwik Sticks- NUHC Kōwhai (Years 7&8)

REGISTRATION

Registration for each team is separate, please be cautious when registering as we are unable to transfer a player within the PlayHQ system.

Registrations will open Monday 23 February 2026 closing Friday 24 April 2026.

PLAYING FEES

Playing Fees are $120.00 per player.

Please note: payment will be invoiced and billed directly by the club after you register on PlayHQ.

We appreciate that it is not always easy to pay and we don’t want that to be a barrier to anyone wanting to play hockey. We can offer payment plans to anyone who needs it, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Playing shirts are provided, but we require you to provide black playing socks and shorts. Players will need a hockey stick, shin guards and mouth guard to play.
